Heritage Nature Center

One of the Village of Groveport’s newest and most successful partnerships is the Heritage Nature Center in Heritage Park on Wirt Road.    Located in the Park’s historic Log House, the Nature Center provides regular programming by trained naturalists every Saturday morning and occasional evenings or weekends.   The last Saturday morning of every month is devoted to Science Saturday, with fun science activities designed for every age and interest.

The smaller room of the 2-room Log House dates to 1815; the larger room was constructed ca. 1825.  Heritage Park is situated on the site of the Ohio and Erie Canal which served as the primary transportation route for the region from 1831-1900.

Heritage Nature Center sponsors two major events each spring.    Keep Groveport Beautiful Day is held each May to involve the community in planting flowers at park entrances, litter control, demonstrations, games and entertainment.   A Nature Fair, held at Heritage Park in June, features hands-on demonstrations, fishing derby, pioneer exhibits, puppet show, entertainment, Ohio Wildlife Center, and tours of the Log House.

The Nature Center is also open by appointment for school, Scout and homeschooling groups.  For additional information, call Groveport Town Hall at (614) 836-3333.  For calendars of upcoming events, please click the following:
